An open call is going on for the ”Girls Do Comics | Stories of Women by Women” competition.

Ready for the most exciting and creative comic book project of the year?

Cartoon people proudly present: “Girls Do Comics”—a comics anthology initiative in partnership with EMK Center and adhunika foundation . This project aims to publish stories of women by women.
The anthology will showcase comics written and illustrated by Bengali female cartoonists, storytellers, exploring what it means to be a Bengali woman in the 21st century.

Awards: The top three comics will receive prizes totaling BDT 100,000, while the ten to fifteen best comics will have an opportunity for publication in an anthology. All submitted comics will be eligible for exhibition at a week-long event, and participants will receive certificates of participation.

Terms of Submission: By participating in this collection, contributors grant the rights for the publication and promotion of their work in our anthologies, exhibitions, related publications, and on our online platforms. We encourage you to begin writing and illustrating your daily life stories to contribute to this comics collection. For any inquiries, please contact: girlsdocomics@gmail.com . Theme: The principal theme for this year’s anthology is “Introduction.” Additionally, submissions on any topic of the contributor’s choice are welcome.

Submission Guidelines:

Eligibility: Bengali women cartoonists, artists, and storytellers residing in Bangladesh or abroad are invited to submit their work. If applicable, collaboration between writers and artists on picture stories is permitted.

Initial Submission Requirements:

• A complete script in PDF format, with a maximum length of 1,200 words.
• A minimum of 6 pages and a maximum of 20 pages of rough drawings or storyboards in JPEG format.
• Alternatively, fully completed comics may be submitted without the need for a separate script.

Submissions may be in either Bengali or English.

Art Medium: Contributions can include both hand-drawn and digital illustrations.
